Getting ready for winter solistice

Today, Hazel seems to be on the mend. Her fever is gone! Her nose is not as runny and we haven't given her any medicine today. Unfortunately, she doesn't seem to want to nap, but we are having quiet time right now. We'll see if it works. I don't think it will.

I so love hosting the Sharing Saturday. I get to see all of your wonderful crafts and ideas. (It is still open for this week if you want to share anything else or check out all the great ideas that have been shared.) I decided today to try the one shared by One Hook Wonder: Sunny Winter Solstice Ornaments. After seeing it I picked up some beads at Joann's that were labeled sunshine as the color combination. Today we made some. I cut my two pipe cleaners in half and twisted the centers to get eight spokes. On some I slipped beads where they would hide the twists. I made a few and helped Hazel with a few. We even pulled out our wooden beads and made one and a half. I really love these and am thinking we may send some to family members to remind us all how we need light during the dark months and in the lighter months they can be to celebrate the sun.

Wooden Bead Candy Canes
We also worked on our candy canes. I posted a tutorial for these back in September, and we are still working on them. I really am loving the ones with the wooden beads. I was trying to be more Waldorf-ish. The wooden beads are bigger so they are easier and quicker to work with.

Well that is it for today! Have a great day!!
