Spring has sprung here. Have you been seeing any bunnies in the yard? We haven't yet but that may be due to the foxes that moved in. Bunnies are seen as such cute animals and tend to be a sign of spring. Today we are sharing a beautiful picture book about a bunny. It is Hop's Tales: The Kind Bunny by Evelina Ruimy and illustrated by Siska Kalla. There is a giveaway at the end of this post.

From Me:
In this sweet story, Hop is a young bunny who loves school. He loves to learn and loves being with his friends and teacher. Then one day a dog named Ruff tells him liking school is not cool. Hop is devastated. He wants to be cool, but he loves school. He doesn't know what to do but doesn't want to go back to school. His mom finds him and asks what is wrong. When he tells her, she shares that Ruff was being rude and unkind. She tells Hop to always be kind and use kindness as a power. Just say "No," to rude behavior. Hop returns to school and is having a great time with his friends and loves learning. When Ruff calls his name, he stops but remembers what his mom said and tells Ruff no. He then sees Ruff get the look of how he felt previously. He decides to be kind and show Ruff why school is cool. The two become friends and both love school.
Talk about sweet. This book is rhyming and the illustrations are gorgeous!! The pictures remind me of a perfect spring day! The story is so wonderful. I love that Hop and his friends love school and learning. I also love that his mother teaches kindness and setting a boundary to protect oneself when someone is being mean. This is such an important lesson for us all to learn. We have the right to protect ourselves from bullies. We have the right to say no when someone is being rude. And kindness is a power. By being kind to others, we show what life should be and can be. Hop does this and it ends up turning Ruff from the bully to a friend.
This book is perfect for any classroom. It is a great teacher gift as well. The book is great for any time of the year but would be amazing in the first week or so of school. It helps teach the kids it is great to love school and learning but also the power of kindness with boundaries. I also think it is a great story to read at home especially before kids go to school or go back to school to help them know how to handle difficult people and situations. It is a great book to talk about school, friends and so much more! Imagine if we all are kind but set our boundaries to ensure our own emotional strength and being true to ourselves. What a wonderful place it would be!!
