It is hard to believe that the United States is celebrating its 250th birthday this year! With this weekend being Memorial Day weekend and the patriotic decor coming out we thought it was a great time to share some of the many books around for learning about the United States and celebrations. Today we are sharing three board books so the youngest ones can learn a bit about our great nation. Our first book involves a favorite children's book character from Eric Carle, the Very Hungry Caterpillar!! It is a tabbed board book called Across the USA with The Very Hungry Caterpillar by the World of Eric Carle. It is recommended for ages 1 to 3.
About the Book:

From Me:
In this fun book, the reader travels with The Very Hungry Caterpillar to see the many amazing and some everyday sights of the United States. It includes things like a bald eagle over a big lake, a farm, a bear on a rocky mountain, kids playing baseball, neighbors dancing and making music, a barbecue, and a fireworks display for the Fourth of July! All the pages are full of Eric Carle's classic illustrations.
This book is perfect for the young ones having The Very Hungry Caterpillar themed birthday parties or classrooms with Eric Carle decor. It is a fun way to bring this beloved character back this time showing how great America is. A great way to introduce young ones to the big birthday of our great nation.
Our next book is an alphabet book that shares the many things and events that make America wonderful. From Elvis to hot dogs and the Declaration of Independence this book shares history, culture and so much more! It is the ABCs of America by J.D. Forester and illustrated by Henry Rancourt. It is recommended for ages 0 to 3.
About the Book:

B is for bald eagle, the country’s national bird. C is for cowboy boots, worn out on the ranch. In this celebration of the United States, there’s a classic American symbol for each letter of the alphabet. Featuring bold, dynamic art that promotes engagement for curious minds, this educational and patriotic book highlights American culture, history, and more for little ones.
This book goes through the alphabet sharing something about America. It has serious things like the Grand Canyon and more fun ones like ice cream trucks. It truly has a way of catching the feel of America. It shares cultural as well as historical things and shares things from across the country.
I love how this book shares such a mix of topics and ideas of America. It is perfect for the preschool or kindergarten classroom or to read at home and talk about the country.
Our final book for today is from the Hello, World! series. We shared another book in this series earlier this week. Today's book is Hello, World! USA by Jill McDonald. It is recommended for ages 0 to 3.
