It is hard to believe that Christmas is only two weeks away!! I've already shared quite a few amazing new Christmas and other December holiday (like Hanukkah and Kwanzaa) books!! I just received a fun Christmas book I have to share. It is from the World of Eric Carle and has illustrations in his style including some of his favorite animals. The book is Christmas Together with Polar Bear and Friends and is written by Bill Martin Jr. and illustrated by Eric Carle, two of my favorite children's book authors! This book is recommended for ages 3 to 6.

From Me:
This is a sweet, short book perfect for younger kids. It has Eric Carle's beautiful artwork and is all about getting ready to gather with loved ones for Christmas. The loved ones in this case are animals. The animals include polar bears, squirrels, hares, owls and more. The book not only has the animals for the reader to guess and talk about but also shares some of the sounds and sights of Christmas. The quiet world of snowfall and the crunching of walking on snow as well as the howling of the wind and the dripping of icicles. It is a book sharing the wonder of nature and winter as well as Christmas.
I love the various connections of wintertime, Christmas and nature in this short book. It is one I feel an adult could truly enjoy a discussing and seeing what animal comes next as well as what other part of nature from the weather to the sky. Plus, it talks about Christmas as a day of fun and time to gather and be together. It shares things like spreading joy and spirits bright to help the reader get into the holiday spirit, but it also shares a bit about outdoors and winter. It is the perfect book for young ones and a great gift for preschoolers and younger. I also think many classrooms will love this book. There are so many different lessons that can go with it. I am so glad they are continuing Eric Carle's legacy and sharing his art even after his death.
