Origami Spectacular! -- Fun origami kit review

Disclosure: I was sent this kit in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

Friday and Monday I was substituting at Hazel's school in one of the high school math and science rooms. The geometry class has an origami project due this week, so we were having some fun with origami. I came home ready to play with origami at home so I pulled out Origami Spectacular! From Me:

This kit is amazing!! It has four sizes of paper to get you started with fun designs. It has a large variety of projects as well. I decided to try quite a few. I found the instructions relatively easy, but I have some experience with origami. It is not a huge surprise seeing the two authors of the book. They are both big names in the origami world at least on the United States side.

I started with the bookmark. It is very easy and has a wonderful use. I used one of the small square papers for this project.

As you can see from the instructions above this is a very easy project. I also wanted to try Whiskers the Cat. Here are the instructions from the book.

I found their sample photograph a bit hard to see with the pattern so I used a solid paper. I have not seen this cat head previously. Here is my cat. I used a medium square paper for it.

Next I made the skunk. I even used the same paper they did. This was the largest square paper.

Next I made the Simple Penguin. I used a medium piece of paper for this one.

Next I made the cup. I used a medium piece of paper for this one as well.

Then I tried the swallow. I was excited to see the bird!! I used the medium paper for this as well.

Then I made the magnolia blossom. This one takes several pieces of paper to create one blossom. Then you glue the pieces together. I used medium paper for this as well.

Now I wanted to try making something with the fake dollar bills. I tried the Dollar Heart.

I love how this kit gives such a variety of projects as well as paper. The projects vary in difficulty as well as uniqueness. There are some projects that I have not seen elsewhere as well as some ones you see everywhere. I hope you will check out this kit. It is perfect for the beginners as well as well versed origami masters.
