From Me:
In this fun book, the three kids and two dogs are causing chaos instead of getting ready for bed. Mom is really struggling and nothing is working. Then out of the bathroom steps a different woman. She says her name is Mrs. Gourd. The kids go to joke about it, but she talks with a British accent and really means business. Mrs. Gourd seems to create bedtime magic. The kids all listen and get ready for bed. She is tucking them in after story time and the kids are already almost asleep. It is what every parent in the bedtime chaos wishes for! We all need Mrs. Gourd at some point, and this book helps you create bedtime magic!
As the mom of a teenager, this book brought back memories of those rough nights. Whether Hazel was overtired or just wound up, those chaotic nights definitely were tough. I love that this mom created a whole new character for bedtime. She came and wasn't willing to put up with the silliness or anything from the kids, and the kids were too shocked to fight back. The story is fun and the illustrations are beautiful. The colorful pages are full of action and a bit of the magic. Both kids and adults are going to enjoy the story and the magic of Mrs. Gourd. Mrs. Gourd is full of character, and she entertains the kids and the readers.
It is the perfect book for bedtime in any house with younger children. It is also the perfect book for the parents when they need a bit of bedtime magic and their own Mrs. Gourd to smooth the chaos. It is such a creative (and true) story. I love the solution and hope this book will become a bedtime favorite for many families and help end the nightly chaos! If you struggle with bedtime, be sure to check out this book!!
