Last week we introduced Summerween and three books with lots of ideas to celebrate! Today we are going to look at the ghost side of it. If you are celebrating Summerween or just excited to get new books for Halloween these books are for you. Today we are sharing two new ghost themed books. One is released this week and the other will be released next month! Starting with the one released this week, it is To Knit a Ghost with words by Z.B. Asterplume and pictures by Heather Brockman Lee. It is recommended for ages 4 to 8.

In this sweet book a young witch wants to knit a ghost. The ghost in her house are excited for it. They talk about what is needed to knit a ghost. It includes a cup of tea, finger stretches and more. Then it is time to cast on the stitches. The word play with cast a spell and cast on stitches. The ghost and cat cheer her on and after she fails, they encourage her to try again and she is successful.
This is a fun book that also provides knitting lessons and the pattern to knit your own ghost! It is a book about trying something new and working at it to be successful. There is no scary part to the book, but it has a witch, black cat, and ghosts. It is just a sweet story that kids will love. The ghosts crack quite a few jokes too.
I knit my own ghost but haven't added a mouth yet. The instructions and the picture tutorial to cast on, knit, knit front and back, and knit two together make it easy to follow. This book is perfect for the craft loving young ones who don't always want to be scared at Halloween.
Our next book will be released on August 25, 2026. It is another ghost themed book. It is Have You Ever Seen a Ghost? written by Daniel Kwan and Julia Pott and illustrated by Sean Lewis. It is also recommended for ages 4 to 8.

In this sweet book we meet a ghost. Of course we can't actually see the ghost. The ghost is shy and getting ready for a party. The reader helps calm him down and he invites the reader to the party. He is struggling with what to wear to the part and what to bring the hostess. It is a sweet book about friendships, courage and stepping out of one's comfort zone.
It is a great story for the shy kids who get anxiety before a party or play date. The ghost is just like the kids. He is nervous and asks for advice. He finds things that will help him and takes the reader's advice.
