Review of Ick! Delightfully Disgusting Animal Dinners, Dwellings and Defenses

Disclosure: I was sent a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

Are you ready to be grossed out? Do you know a kid who loves disgusting stories and facts? Today's book is perfect for you or the kid. It is from National Geographic Kids so it has lots of amazing photographs and it is Ick! Delightfully Disgusting Animal Dinners, Dwellings and Defenses by Melissa Stewart.
We all know animals can do strange things and we know some are pretty disgusting. I know plenty of people who are afraid of bugs and find them gross but this book has facts about different animals (even cute and cuddly ones) that will just disgust you. There are animals that eat blood and ones that eat poop--their own or someone else's. Then there are some disgusting dwelling habits. For example the burrowing owl line and surround their nests with poop--their own and any they can find. You can imagine how it smells. Um, YUK! Then there is the chipmunk that takes a bath in snake urine to keep its predators away. This book is full of stories like this and comes with close up photographs of all the animals.

The book is divided into three sections: Dinner, Dwellings, and Defenses. The pages include all sorts of interesting facts with explanations for some of the disgusting behavior. There are cute animals like the rabbits and pandas and there are many bugs, beetles, spiders and snakes. This book is perfect for studying animals and for the kids who love anything gross. This book is sure to give some amazing information about the animal world and to disgust those who read it. I hope you will check it out!
