Museum of Lost Teeth -- Review & Giveaway

Disclosure: I was sent a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. I am working with The Children's Book Review and Elyssa Friedland as part of the blog tour and will receive a small stipend for this post. All opinions are my own.

As a child did you ever wonder where the teeth go when the tooth fairy picks them up? I think it is a common thing to wonder about. That is until you find them hidden away in one of your parents' jewelry boxes or dresser. I mean what is a parent to do with all those baby teeth? I know I have Hazel's in my top dresser drawer, and I know my sisters and I found ours in my father's jewelry box. Where do you keep your children's lost teeth?

Today I am sharing a fun book about what happens to the lost teeth after the tooth fairy picks them up. It is called The Museum of Lost Teeth by Elyssa Friedland and illustrated by Gladys Jose. It is recommended for ages 4 to 8. At the end of this post is a giveaway as well as a round-up of teeth and tooth fairy crafts, activities, and stories!

Publisher’s Book Summary: Find out where the tooth fairy takes all those lost teeth in this laugh-out-loud new picture book, perfect for fans of School’s First Day of School.

Toothy lives in Liam’s mouth next to his best friend Fang. He’s a good tooth—sparkly and strong, and he loves doing the floss.

One day, Toothy notices that he is loose and panics! Where will he go after he leaves his comfy spot next to Fang? After a crunchy apple seals the deal, Toothy is tucked under Liam’s pillow. When the Tooth Fairy appears, she takes Toothy to the Museum of Lost Teeth. It’s a more incredible place than Toothy could have ever imagined. It’s filled with new friends and fun activities like Tooth or Dare! Toothy finds a new home on the Firsts Floor, where first baby teeth are proudly displayed.

In the tradition of School’s First Day of School, The Museum of Lost Teeth answers the question “Where do all the lost teeth go?” in this unexpected and hilarious picture book.

From Me:

This book is just a sweet story. I love how the teeth have personalities and names as well as friends. Their friends are of course the teeth next to them in the child's mouth. The loose tooth was nervous. He didn't want to lose his home in Liam's mouth. When Felicity Fairy comes to get him, he is so nervous, but Felicity is a pro and knows how to put him at ease and encourage him to be brave. Upon arriving at the museum--Toothy's new home, Felicity explains that the tooth fairies bring the lost teeth here to live out their lives. Yes, there are multiple tooth fairies since one cannot handle the entire world's lost teeth or for that matter the entire country's. There are all sorts of sights to see at the museum. All the first teeth lost live together on the first floor. There is Molar Mile, Cavity Corner and so much more. The teeth live there and seem to enjoy their lives outside of a mouth. They were all very welcoming. There is even a collection of teeth from different animals like the walrus tusk!

I love the creativity in this book. The museum is full of puns as well fun. It is the perfect story for little ones losing or about to lose their first tooth. I love that the fairies are multicultural, and the teeth do things that we humans do. There are teeth going down a slide and playing in the room where Toothy has a spot. The pages are full of colorful and fun illustrations and the activities for the teeth will appeal to the children. Plus the back inside cover have letters from various tooth fairies that are a must read for entertainment including some for kids who don't take care of their teeth like Liam did. I hope you will check out this fun and sweet book!!
