Are you in the need of a laugh? The two picture books I am sharing today will definitely get you laughing. They are so fun and entertaining. The first is Chimpanzees for Tea! by Jo Empson.
This book is the classic tale of sending someone to the store with a list that gets confused on the way. Vincent was told to get a bunch of carrots, a box of rice, some tasty cheese, a big firm pear and a can of peas and hurry home in time for tea by his mother. However along the way to the store the list blows away. Then with each distraction Vincent changes each item and ends up bringing quite an interesting group of things home for tea. This book had Hazel and I laughing. The illustrations are colorful and fun. The reader can see the movement as well as the distractions (adults keep talking to Vincent along the way).  In the end Vincent and his mother have a very interesting tea party full of many different guests. It is a wonderful play with words.

Our second book is Snappsy the Alligator (Did Not Ask to Be in This Book!) by Julie Falatko and illustrated by Tim Miller. This book is really fun. It reminds me of The Book With No Pictures by B.J. Novak which is one of Hazel's favorite book. It is a bit of pure silliness. In this book a narrator decides to follow Snappsy around and make a story about what he is doing. Snappsy comments throughout the book about how the narrator is doing as well as letting the narrator know he does not need his life narrated and would prefer to be left alone. When the narrator begins to complain about how boring Snappsy's behavior is Snappsy plans a party and finally lets the narrator into his house for the party. It is really a fun book and shows a bit about what life would be like to be followed around by someone reporting everything you do. The illustrations in the book are cartoonish and at times there are word bubbles to represent Snappsy talking. I brought this book in the other day to read to Hazel's class. They loved it!!

So I hope you will check these fun books out and enjoy them as much as we have!!
