Spring brings many gift giving times. There are the holidays--Mother's Day and Father's Day, graduations, weddings, new babies and more. Today we are sharing some fun books for gifts for these occasions (Father's Day ideas will come later). We will start with ideas for Mother's Day. The first book is a board book. It is World's Best Mom by Lynn Giunta. The recommended ages are 0 to 3.
About the Book:
Celebrate mothers and all the wonderful ways they inspire and provide support with this heartfelt board book—a perfect gift year-round.The world’s best mom is always there to catch me when I fall.
Sweet messages pair perfectly with adorable art and stunning pop-ups in this fun read-aloud. Little ones will love sharing this book with their mothers to celebrate Mother’s Day, birthdays, Christmas, and other special occasions.
From Me:
This is a fun little board book all about how amazing mom is. The pictures include various animal moms and child. The words remind us how safe and loved mom makes us feel. It is a pop-up book. (On sample page above the sloths pop-up.)
This book is perfect for gifting at baby showers, celebrating new babies and Mother's Day or mom's birthday, holidays, etc. It is a fun book that will help the crazed mom remember just how great she is and how much she does for her kids!
Our next book is a picture book for a mom. It is You and Me, Baby by Aisha Saeed and illustrated by Ebony Glenn. It is recommended for ages 2 to 5 but also great for new moms!
About the Book:
A beautiful celebration of mamas and babies getting to know each other, by New York Times bestselling author Aisha SaeedThe arrival of a new baby changes everything. These marvelous little beings bring with them a whole lot of sweetness—and a whole set of new experiences to navigate. But the wonderful thing is that we learn and grow together, just like the mamas and babies in this book, and with time we all get the hang of this brand-new relationship. You and me, baby!
From Me:
This sweet book takes me back to when Hazel was a baby. Everything was new and a bit scary. I was so worried I would do something wrong and hurt her. It truly celebrates the new mom and all she does to bond with her baby and care for her baby. It shares some of the special things that happen between mother and child.
The book shares some of the sentiments new moms feel including the wonder of it all. It has diverse illustrations and shows that the bond between mother and child is the same for all races and cultures. This book is the perfect gift for new moms but also for moms whose older kids are reaching a new milestone like leaving the home to remind them of the special bond they have.
Our next books are not as specified for an occasion. Although the next one I see perfect for graduation or perhaps retirement, but will truly be enjoyed at any age. It is Why Not Waltz to Your Alarm Clock? And 99 Other Ways to Rekindle Childhood Magic by Cerise Zelenetz.
About the Book:
This small, illustrated gift book encourages readers to rekindle their sense of childhood joy through whimsical illustrations and playful ways to be mindful in everyday moments. Both inspirational and practical, Why Not? celebrates life’s often overlooked pleasures while instilling a sense of connection with the world around us—as well as the world within us.
Suggestions include:
- Why not jump in a puddle during the next rainfall? Gather friends to join you for an extra satisfying splash.
- Instead of reading your tea leaves, why not go leaf reading outdoors? See what symbols you can find within the foliage.
- Why not play truth or dare with your partner or a friend? Except every dare must be to tell a joke that will make the other laugh, and every truth must be to share something you dreamed of as a child.
From Me:
Do you remember being a child and not caring so much about what everyone thought of you? You weren't afraid to dance in the middle of a store or sing a song. This book is a reminder that those magical moments do not need to stop just because you are grown up. In fact this book gives suggestions to gain some of that childhood magic again.
The ideas are fun and can get you to loosen up or even use your time wisely. Each page has a fun illustration and a "Why Not?" suggestion with a bit more advice on the topic. This is the perfect book for graduations or retirements or for anyone who needs to get in touch with the child inside them! I know I was dancing in my chair at a restaurant with a toddler a few tables away also dancing and smiling at me. Sometimes we need to let our inner child out and not worry about everything! What "Why Not?" are you willing to try?
Our next book is a sticker book. We have reviewed some sticker books from this series previously. I often use the sticker books in crafts or for making cards. Today's is perfect for doing all those things but also for gifting. In fact I am thinking of gifting it to one of my graduating students who loves marine life. The book An Ocean Lover's Sticker Book illustrated by Nathalie Ouederni.
About the Book:
Enjoy a love letter to the sea with 775+ hand-painted stickers.Starfish and rainbow fish, swooping graceful whales and tiny intricate seashells, a neon forest of kelp and coral. This gorgeous bounty of more than 775 stickers, each a lovingly hand-painted work of art, revels in the infinite magic of life under the sea, evoking on every page the sound of waves and smell of salt air. Perfect for decorating a nature journal, diary, or letters to friends, or wherever you want a reminder of the ocean with all its marvels and mysteries.
The stickers in this book vary by different aspects of the ocean. They includes shells, fish, plants and more. There is a page full sharks and one of turtles. Some pages look like a scene from the ocean (like the one above) and others are just stickers. There is even a page of stickers that look like stamps for letters.
This sticker book is perfect for beach crafts as well as decorating journals or making cards. Ocean lovers will love the variety and be able to add a bit of the ocean to everything in their lives. It is a perfect gift especially as beach weather is approaching!
Our final book is a book of wrapping paper. We have used wrapping paper to beautifully cover gifts but also to make crafts like paper beads and more in the past. Today's book is Helmsie Wrapping Paper Book by Helmsie. And it screams springtime!!

The pages are beautiful. Most are a floral design and perfect for spring and summer or really any celebration. There is also one of colorful tassels perfect for graduation gifts! These papers are a good quality and very colorful. They would make beautiful crafts but they also will be beautiful on gifts. I love the colors and the designs on the papers and the papers are a good quality.
The book also comes with a page of sticker tags (see above). It is truly perfect for wrapping your gifts and having them look stylish! This is not a book you would completely gift but provides the opportunity to wrap the gifts in something gorgeous and have a matching label for it! I plan to use it as wrapping paper but may try some crafts with it as well!
