From Me:
In this sweet book young Sophie wakes up every day and tells her mother she is not Sophie but instead is an animal. The animals include a tiger, elephant, snake, bird, and alligator. Sophie acts as that animal all day and her mom says good night to the little animal each night and good morning to that animal the next day. In this short book the reader sees many things. First there is the imagination and acceptance. There is a wonderful relationship between Sophie and her mother. Since I'm writing this review on Mother's Day weekend, the relationship stuck out to me. I love how her mother accepts that her daughter is whatever animal she chooses and encourages her imagination. Next there is a glimpse of the behaviors of the animals. As a tiger Sophie roars and pounces. As an elephant she stomps and trumpets. It is a fun book!
This book is perfect for animal lovers!! It is also a fun introduction to creative play and animal behaviors. I can see this book being read at bedtime or in a class or library when focusing on animals. Kids will love how Sophie behaves like the animals and her mother accepts her doing so. It is a fun book of creativity and love.
