Disclosure: I was sent a copy of this book in order to provide an honest review. All opinions are my own.
There are times when it is so fun to just be silly. I remember a visit to my sister's place when Hazel was young. We had the best time taking silly selfies and just being silly with one another. We came up with a term, "funny up." It totally meant just be silly and make everyone laugh. As adults, my sister and I don't always get to be silly, but there are people who seem to live in a silly state of mind. They are the dreamers who add so much to our world. Today we are sharing a book that celebrates them and encourages the readers to embrace their silliness. The book is Here's to the Silly Ones by Seth Standley and illustrated by Valerie Hamill. It is recommended for ages 3 to 6.
About the Book:
A celebration of those who live life to its silliest! Here’s to the Silly Ones is a sweet book that will appeal to those who want to share poetry, lyricism and a delight in the world with children.
From Me:
Who are the silly ones? Well, they are the ones who live life to the silliest. They may doodle, skip, dance, sing in everyday life. Let's face it they are the ones having the best time and just enjoying being alive! In this sweet book they are mice who are having a fun time doing whatever. But the book shares more about them. They are the inventors, imaginers, creators, inspirers. They like to explore and heal with laughter. I am sure you know some silly ones. We all do.
I love how this book embraces the silly ones. We all need the silly ones in our lives. Sometimes the silly ones may drive us crazy but if we pause and enjoy them for who they are, the silly ones bring us laughter and pleasure. They also are the ones who can bring us progress because their ideas go beyond our normal measures of reality. They are important to all of us. Plus, the more we can be silly and laugh the healthier we all are. This book is perfect for the recommended age group because it is going to get them using their imaginations as well as wanting to explore and hopefully get outside a bit more and have less screen time!! This book is a perfect gift for a youngster to encourage them to be silly. It is also a fun way to start a school year because it will hopefully encourage the students to explore and imagine some of the silliest ideas and hopefully help others learn and keep everyone laughing and being friends.
