From Me:
The first time I read this book I noticed right away it has a rhythm. It is definitely a song. You can actually see the video and hear the song on the Tika Tika Time website. At the bottom of the screen is a YouTube video of the song. The book or song goes into the sounds of animals and how animals come in all sizes and have different features. The book features a wolf, a bird, a dog, a rooster, a monkey and a snake. Each of these animals are featured with a sound they make. It is such a fun book and a great way to introduce little ones to animals and their sounds. This book is geared towards younger kids. I know the recommendation is 3 to 12 but I would say it is more like 3 to 7 with older kids perhaps like the song.
I love how the book has the rhythm of the song and how the animal sounds are part of the story. It is a book that encourages kids to get outside and notice what is around them! The story is about walking through the woods and seeing animals. It teaches the sounds of the featured animals but also has a part of imagining being an animal. It promotes imagination and is just fun! Kids will be singing and dancing as well as howling like a wolf and acting like a monkey with this fun book!
Some books that would also be great companions with this book is Howl Like a Wolf and I Am Not Sophie! Take time this summer to get your kids outside and connect to nature! It is such an important part of life.
