Unbelievably Cute Origami -- Crafty Sunday Review

Disclosure: I was sent a copy of this book in order to provide an honest review. All opinions are my own.

As I mentioned earlier last week, I have been on an origami kick since my geometry students just finished their origami project. Today I get to share the most adorable origami book with you. It was released last week!! It is Unbelievably Cute Origami: Kawaii Models with Photo & Video Instructions by Tatsukuri Origami. This is a book for different ages from tween through adult!

About the Book:

Fold adorably KAWAII paper models of all your favorite animals!

Tatsukuri Origami is a one-man folding sensation on YouTube, with more than 140,000 subscribers and over 40 million views. This book presents over 40 of his most popular animal models with incredibly clear and simple photographic instructions. He even provides a free online video tutorial for each model for foolproof results!

These models can be created by folders of all ages. Tatsukuri also provides lots of tips on how to decorate your finished models to supercharge their cuteness factor. A sheet of over 200 eye stickers is also included - perfect for adding the final cute touch.

Here are just some of the unique models you can make with this book:
  • Incredibly cute pets such as cats, dogs, bunnies and hamsters
  • Popular zoo animals like lions, tigers, elephants, gorillas and cuddly pandas
  • Aquatic creatures including dolphins, whales, penguins, otters, frogs and polar bears
  • Friendly forest animals like foxes, hedgehogs, squirrels and owls
  • Animal-themed greeting cards, envelopes, bookmarks and festive decorations like a bunny emerging from an Easter egg and a dress-up Halloween tiger
  • And much more!

Once you fold each model, you can apply eye stickers to give the animal an expressive Kawaii face!

From Me:

This book has absolutely adorable animal projects. Some I have seen elsewhere but most have a unique twist. Each tutorial also has a QR code to link to a video to show the tutorial. Many people find origami easier to follow by video than photos, so this a huge positive for this book! The animals are divided into categories: pets, zoo, forest, aquatic, for celebration and practical models. The sample pages above and below show some in each category.

The instructions are easy to follow, and I love that if you do not understand from the photos you can watch the video. Some of these projects are for more advanced folders but there are some that anyone can do! I love how there the holiday themed as well as practical models as well.

I tried two of the animals--the lion and the otter. I found the instructions easy to follow and the photos are detailed. I also checked out one of the videos and found it to be wonderful quality and easy to follow. There are ads is the only issue I had. So if you know or are an animal lover or origami enthusiast, this book is for you! You can be creating these adorable projects, and the book has sticker eyes to complete the cuteness!!
