From Me:

The latest book is just as funny as the first two in the series. It shares our favorite pug and all the trouble he gets into. This time he senses that it is time for a trip to the veterinarian. He goes to hide, but that darn cat won't leave him alone and keeps giving away his hiding places. His owner grabs him and puts him in the car. The entire way there he has nightmarish thoughts of what will happen. After all veterinarians love to poke and prod animals. There are always the shots too. Well, this visit is for a look at the goop in his eyes and not a wellness or vaccination visit. To his surprise it isn't that bad, and he gets treats! Plus, his eye feels better when he gets home.

Like the first two books in the series, this book rhymes. It is fun and shows the things we love and hate about our pets. Have you ever tried to get a pet ready to go to the vet's office? They always seem to know where they are going and do everything to avoid it. The pug does this too but gets caught in the laundry basket buried in the clothes. His fears make the veterinarian and techs look like monsters. Then there is his interaction with the other dog which isn't going well and when he hears she has worms, he is rather glad it didn't go well. Then he is surprised by the treat for getting weighed and the nice man who looks at his eyes and listens to his heart. He is waiting for the awful moment of the needle, but it doesn't happen! He realizes it is not so bad to go to the veterinarian especially when he gets even more treats on his way out.

This book is perfect for anyone who loves dogs, has pets or wants pets. It is a fun read, and kids will love the silliness of the pug. It is perfect for a story time whether at home or at school or the library. I can see kids laughing and perhaps be able to realize that a visit to the doctor's office doesn't have to be so scary. I can see adults and kids enjoying the story as well as having conversations about doctors and veterinarians and the necessity of going to them. It would also be a great book for a classroom about community helpers or pets.
