Macrame Made Easy Review

Disclosure: I was sent a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

Sorry it has been so long since my last post! I have been getting ready for the start of school. I will be officially working full time starting Monday! Hazel and I headed to school to set up my classroom and I have had other responsibilities to get ready for the year plus things going on at home. Hazel has switched around her rooms and is redecorating to more of a teen vibe. I have been trying to organize the house. Next I will need to find a housecleaner to come since I won't have time to do it. Enough of my quick update on my life. Today I am going to share with you a fun macrame book. It is Macrame Made Easy: Stylish Patterns and Projects for Beginners by Harumi Kageyama.

From the Publisher:

From knotting a simple spiral bracelet to creating a boho wall hanging--macrame has never been easier or more stylish.

In this book, Japanese macrame and handicraft guru Harumi Kageyama presents illustrated step-by-step lessons that introduce you to 28 different knots and 30 innovative projects, including ornamental, wearable, and useful items such as:
  • Reusable shopping bags that look chic and cut down on waste
  • Knotted handbags and pouches that add a boho touch to any outfit
  • An ornamental feather to embellish just about anything
  • Spiral bracelets that call back to everyone's favorite friendship bracelets
  • Covers to transform glass jars into unique decorative objects for events or home decor
  • And more!
While this book offers practical instructions and opportunities to practice what you've learned, it also serves as a resource for inspiration. Once you get the hang of the basics, your imagination and creativity will take over.

From Me:

Now macrame was all the rage when I was growing up. In the 1970s everyone did it. This is when I learned basic macrame. In the 1980s friendship bracelets became popular. I remember making them all the time in high school. The only other macrame I have done is this mini maker project I reviewed a few years ago. I am by no means an expert knotter. I was excited to make the Daily Bag. I purchased a macrame board, pins and the suggested string.

The project begins with the handles. I got one completely done and then when working on the second one our youngest cat discovered the strings and was really interested--especially when I moved them. Needless to say, I need to wait until he is not around or is older.

However, making the handle gave me great appreciation for the ease of using the book! The instructions are clear and easy to follow. It is also full of many different projects. The tutorials even have small projects to make as well.

The projects in the book range from bracelets (some pictured above and below) to bags and home decor.

The tutorials are full of pictures to show how to knot the strings including which is on top and which cross. The projects vary and are just beautiful. I should add that macrame is making a comeback. I have noticed macrame products and crafts in all the stores. Have you?

If you are looking for something to do and want to add a little style to your home or life, be sure to check out this book. It will give you some fun projects to try that will be perfect as fall and winter approach! Now I need to find a way to work on my project when Fidget isn't around to get the strings!
