Do you know a young horse lover and/or rider? After all the old adage is all young girls want a pony for their birthdays. Today we are sharing a newly released lyrical picture book about a young rider and how she cares and loves her horse. It is My Pony Wonder by Jessica Milo and illustrated by Ramona Kaulitki. It is recommended for ages 4 to 8.

Endless fun,
you and me.
A girl boot-stomp-runs at the call of her pony’s whinny, both excited for a day of trail riding. After brushing his smooth coat and shiny mane and picking his hooves clean, it’s time to saddle up for a trail ride through the woods!
Through lyrical, bouncy verses, Jessica Milo invites readers to experience the beauty and wonder of the outdoors through the eyes of a young rider and her pony. As the pair trots and gallops along, they delight in each new sight, finding comfort in one another during moments of uncertainty, and ultimately, sharing precious time together.
Readers will get a glimpse at what it’s like to care for a pony and how to prepare for a trail ride. Charmingly illustrated by bestselling artist Ramona Kaulitzki, this rhythmic picture book is a tribute to the animal friends in our lives and for any kid who dreams of riding a pony!
From Me:
In this sweet book, a young girl goes to greet her pony and begins by taking care of the pony. She gives her pony a snack and grooms it. Then she prepares it for a trail ride with friends. On the trail they encounter deer which at first frighten the pony. The words are a combination of sounds, emotions and actions. It is a fun and positive book. It reminds readers about the work it takes to care for animals and nature.
I love how this book shares the adventure of riding a pony. It is often a young girl's dream, and the details are in here, but it is not all just fun. The rider has to groom and care for the pony both before and after the ride as well as during it. This book is the perfect book for a pony lover or anyone who dreams of riding a horse. It is also a fun read to talk about how to incorporate the sounds, feelings, and everything else in limited words. It would be great to study in a classroom.
