From Me:
Ready to learn about the only fierce and fabulous planet named after a goddess? This book has Venus telling the reader all about her. She touches on things like her name being after a Roman goddess as well as her closeness to Earth and the brightest dot in the night sky. She shares all sorts of information about herself from how she differs from Earth and how there is no life on her planet. She discusses her heat and even shares how smelly she is.
I love how the book shares a bit of history as well as the Roman goddess connection as well as some famous art. She also shares how she differs from the rest of the planets in the solar system.
At the back of the book is the author's note, a little Earth or Venus quiz, as well as information about Venus in numbers and her name, plus the sources for the book. Did you know a day on Venus is longer than a year on Venus. The numbers are really interesting!! The book even explains why people say Venus is Earth's twin and why she really is not. She even shares how we know as much as we do because of spacecrafts that got close to her.
This book will add some humor and fun to introduce Venus or just to share some science during story time. Kids will love the personality of Venus in the book. She is definitely a diva. She is independent, hot and stinky but completely lovable. This book is perfect for any library, classroom or space lover!
