If Animals Loved Books -- Book Review

Disclosure: I was sent a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

Has your child ever read to an animal? Or maybe to a stuffed toy? What would the world be like if animals could read and loved books as much as we do? Today I get to share the newest (released this week) book in the If Animals Loved Series. It is If Animals Loved Books by Ann Whitford Paul and illustrated by David Walker. It is recommended for ages 3 to 6. We reviewed one of the other books in this series previously.

About the Book:

A must-have for any nursery! This bestselling series adds another charming picture book that imagines creatures all across the animal kingdom as enthusiastic readers – making it the perfect purchase for any book lover.

What if animals did what YOU do?

If animals loved books, Fox kit would carry a stack of library books that swaaaayyy. Puppies would gather around to hear Dog’s story time. Bunny would hip-hippity-hop in a book-happy dance. Each forest animal would love books in their own special way.

Featuring playful rhymes and adorable art, the story highlights the joys of the world of reading through an imaginative lens. If Animals Loved Books is ideal for storytime and book lovers of all ages.

Other books in this hit series: If Animals Said I Love You, If Animals Celebrated Christmas, If Animals Went to School, If Animals Gave Thanks, If Animals Tried to Be Kind, If Animals Trick-or-Treated, If Animals Went to Work, and If Animals Celebrated Easter.

From Me:

I love that this book goes into the various ways we read books. There is the library, book club, bookstore, story time, bedtime stories and more! Different animals read in different scenarios. Foxes, badgers, beavers, bats, owls, deer, dogs, bears, cats, and bunnies are featured in this book and all of them love books. In fact, the kitten even licks the pages and purrs! I love how the ways kids show their love of books are included. There is the fox kit that brings home a high pile of books to be read. There is the bunny who hugs her book and does a happy book dance. There are badgers who share the book under a tree and bats who read them in their cave upside down. There are the kid animals that turn the pages too quickly and the ones that want them read again. It has truly most ways kids love books. Beaver reads alone in his stick and mud home. There is a place for each child to relate to how they enjoy books.

The illustrations are adorable and there is a word usually emphasized on each page. I love the words and teaching readers different words and meanings. It is a fun book that kids will love! It is sure to be a favorite at story time or to read alone! (I remember Hazel being gifted If Animals Kissed Goodnight by a friend and she loved that book and read it all the time!)
