Thanksgiving Books for the Very Young

Disclosure: I was sent copies of these books in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

It is hard to believe tomorrow is Thanksgiving. 2020 has been quite the year. It has been a year of loss and fear as well as finding blessings and silver linings. For those with young kids we still want a sense of normalcy for them. Today I am going to share two that are perfect for younger children. The first is a board book that is one where kids can touch and feel different textures. It is See, Touch, Feel Happy Thanksgiving by Roger Priddy.

In this simple board book, the words are about being thankful for things like food, leaves, rain and sun, pets and friends. Each page has something to touch from raindrops to puppy fur and more.

On this sample page it is the corn kernels that the child can feel. They are raised and textured a bit. Each page offers something to feel and something to be thankful for in our lives and especially in the fall.

Our next book is recommended for ages 2 to 6. It is not a board book. It is If Animals Gave Thanks by Ann Whitford and pictures by David Walker. This sweet book looks at what some animals may be thankful for as the weather is changing. Bear plays a key role as he has many things to be thankful for and also gathers his animal friends for a thanksgiving dinner in the end.

I love that the book shares things about the animals like the rabbit hopping and purring or the turtle having his home always with him. The illustrations are just adorable and make you think "ahh". It is a sweet book perfect for the season and an introduction to animals and Thanksgiving.

It is just a fun book that younger kids will love. So if you are sharing this holiday or season with a baby through 6-year-old please check them out.
