Christmas and Other Religious Books

Disclosure: I was sent these books in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

It is hard to believe Christmas is only a little over a week away. This year is flying by way too fast for me, but I am looking forward to having time with my family. Before that happens, I want to share some more books with you. This is a mix of some Christmas related books, a children's Bible and an adult devotional. We will start with the one that is most related to Christmas. It is Silent Night by Lara Hawthorne.

This book has the words of the Christmas carol with beautiful illustrations. One of the things I like is that the holy family has dark skin. The skin of the angels also varies in shades.

At the back of the book there is information about the carol. It talks about how "Silent Night" was composed in 1818 in Oberndorf bei Salzburg, Austria. It also has all the words to the carol on one page at the end. It is a beautiful book.

Our next book is not really a Christmas book but it is about the Virgin Mary. The book is Gifts of Our Lady of Guadalupe: Patroness of Latin America by Demi.

This beautiful book tells the story of Juan Diego and his vision of the Virgin Mary. She spoke to him and asked him to do her bidding with the bishop in Mexico City. We have shared a bit of this story in the past. This book starts with the Spaniards taking over the area and how they tried to force the Aztecs to be Catholic.
The pictures are colorful and beautiful!! This book is in Demi style. The words are wonderful but the pictures tell the story.

Our next book is an International Children's Bible with a magic sequin cover. It is the Sequin Sparkle and Change Bible in Pink.

This Bible is recommended for ages 6 to 10. I love that the pink sequins change to the silver hearts with a pink background. It shows how the Bible teaches about God's love. The fun cover draws the reader in and makes them want to look at this book over and over. The Bible features a time line as well as extra pages on topics like why read the Bible, how to pray, how to forgive and more. It is a perfect book for a young lady who wants her own Bible. I only wish it was the NIV version so Hazel could use it at school, but ICB is her favorite version to read when it is not school work.

I fell in love with Sarah Young's Jesus Calling. I have tried to find a devotional I love as much and have not until this book arrived. The book is Jesus Always by Sarah Young. As in her other books Sarah writes the book in Jesus' voice. The book draws you into a discussion with Jesus. Talk about strengthening your relationship with Jesus!! Start the day of with a conversation with God. It puts your focus just where it needs to be to remember the important things in life. It is a wonderful book with a daily devotional and then scriptures to read for the day. How do you start your day? I love starting mine this way!!

Four very different books but amazing ones. I hope you will check them all out!!
