Let's have a staring contest! Ready!! This is the concept of our first book, Don't Blink by Tom Booth.

In this fun book, the reader is challenged to a staring contest by a young girl. Then the girl is joined by various animals. She tells each animal not to blink as they join her staring team. Who will win? This book is perfect for the younger child. It is suggested for ages 3-6. Hazel however loves it!
The illustrations are simple in parts but with detail. It is a fun book and will get kids interested in looking at the pictures and the book. After all who can resist a staring contest!

I like this book. I would give it three and a half stars. ⭐⭐⭐1.2 I like that it was about a girl and animals and they all like to stare out of the pages.

Our next book is about what happens when you tell a little lie. The Whopper by Rebecca Ashdown tells how that little lie becomes a big whopper of guilt in you. We have all done it. Told a little lie. We especially do it when we are little. And then the guilt of that lie grows. Percy tells a lie about losing the new sweater his grandmother made him. He actually put it on the dog and it got ruined. The guilt of the lie became a monster that grew and grew. It stayed with him all day, every day and it made him grumpy. There is only one thing to do when a whopper is in your life and that is to tell the truth. The suggested ages for this book is 3-7. It is perfect if you have someone who tends to tell lies or to stop them before they begin.

The next book is The Jelly Bean Tree by Toni Yuly. This book is for the very young child. The recommended ages are 0-4. It is simple and fun. It is about a giraffe named Jelly Bean. Jelly Bean loves trees and takes a nap by one and wakes to find something on her head. It is a bird's nest. Now she knows he must stay still so the eggs do not fall out, so she does with the help of her friends who bring her food.

The pictures are colorful and simple; the words are also simple, and the story line is really sweet. It is perfect for younger kids.

Our next book is Turtle Tug to the Rescue by Michael Slack. This book is suggested for ages 3-5. It is about a turtle that is also a tug boat and he patrols the water to help rescue those who need it. The words are simple and fun and the pictures are cute. There are all sorts of animals that need Turtle Tug's help.

Our final book for today is The Giant of Jum by Elli Woollard and illustrated by Benji Davies. This book is for slightly older kids. The suggested ages are 4-8.

This giant is hungry and wants to treat himself to some children. His brother has told him about the beanstalk and Jack and now he wants to eat Jack. He goes to find some kids, but the kids are too smart for this giant. They keep asking him for favors and then show him how much more fun it is too eat cake with kids than to eat the kids and that he is actually too nice to eat the children. It is a fun story that could scare the more sensitive children, but it has such a sweet ending.

These are some fun picture books for the younger kids (0-8). I hope you will check them out!
