Crafty Weekends Review & Link Party
Disclosure: I was sent these books in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.
Tonight I am going to share two fun coloring books. These books are a bit like adult coloring books but for kids--think tweens. They are recommended for ages 7 to 10. Hazel LOVES them. The series is Press Out + Color, and we have had the pleasure of sharing with you some of the other books in this series. The first one we will share tonight is Press Out and Color Unicorns by Kate McLelland.

Spring Board Books Round-Up
Disclosure: We were sent these books in exchange for honest reviews. All opinions are our own.
So I decided to share with you some board books today that have been sitting on my shelf. Since one of them is about spring I figured I better hurry up. Although it is just feeling like spring here, we are half way through it on the calendar. These books range in ages from baby to 3.

This has been a crazy week here. We celebrated Teacher Appreciation Week a week early and I spent a lot of time at school helping out/running it. Then Thirty-One announced a Pop-Up Sale (Disclosure: I am a Thirty-One Independent Consultant so I will receive a percentage of any purchase made through this link.). It ends tomorrow if you want to shop a deal! I have been advertising it and sold at a craft fair as well. As a result I am not reviewing anything tonight.

Japanese Crafts -- Asian Pacific American Heritage Month
Disclosure: We were sent these books in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are our own.
May is Asian Pacific American Heritage Month. This year I thought I would focus on Japanese crafts. I have written a few posts about Japan and Japanese culture over the years. If you want a general overview of the country and its culture you should check out my review here. When I looked at my shelf of books to review I saw a bit of a pattern and realized I had a collection of books about crafts in Japan. Part of what I love about these books is most of them also teach a bit about the culture.

Today we are starting something special. Hazel is going to be writing some of the reviews for me! So here is Hazel's Corner!!
Since this is my first real review I will tell you a little bit about myself. I am ten and in fourth grade. I love all subjects, and some of my favorite animals are birds, especially flamingos and owls. I play the violin.

Disclosure: Candlewick Press sent me a copy of these books in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.
Did you know April is National Poetry Month? In honor of that I thought I would share three books that involve poetry. All three books are from Candlewick Press. Have you discovered them yet? I love their books. They are always amazing quality in product as well as the writing. I have never been disappointed by one of their books. The first book is What is Poetry: The Essential Guide to Reading & Writing Poems by Michael Rosen and illustrated by Jill Calder.

This year for the Multicultural Kid Blogs Easter Around the World Blog Hop I thought I would focus on an aspect of Easter instead of Easter in a specific country. I chose to look at Easter eggs.

It is A Hero for Miss Hatherleigh by Carolyn Miller and is the first in the Regency Brides Daughters of Aynsley series.

Review of Dreaming in Code: Ada Byron Lovelace, Computer Pioneer -- #WomensHistoryMonth
Disclosure: Candlewick Press sent me a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.
Now as a former math teacher I love seeing books about mathematicians in different cultures and especially about female ones. I think it is so important for kids to see that all sorts of people can do and have been successful in math besides just the white European men that so much of our math and its theorems are named after. Today's book is about Ada Byron Lovelace. I have had the pleasure of sharing with you several books about Ada Byron Lovelace, but this is the first one that is geared toward the older kid. It is recommended for grade seven and above. The book is Dreaming in Code: Ada Byron Lovelace, Computer Pioneer by Emily Arnold McCully.
