This week I have been sharing books for different levels of readers in hopes of helping your kids avoid the summer slide. Today I am going to share two middle school level books. The first book is the second book in the Odd Series by Amy Ignatow. I reviewed the first book here and this one has sat on my shelf for some time and for some reason I didn't review it even though I read it ages ago. Sorry for not sharing it sooner. I loved reading it, so I am not sure why I didn't. Anyway, the newest book is Against the Odds

Today we get to participate in the blog tour for Betty G. Birney's newest book: Life According to Og the Frog. You may have heard of her other book(s): The World According to Humphrey. She has done a lot more than just one book about Humphrey. I haven't read any of them, but after reading about Og the Frog, I cannot wait to get my hands on them.

What does your summer look like? Do you go away? Do your kids go to camp? Hazel doesn't like to go to camp and since I don't work during the summer I can keep her home. She however LOVES to read. We really do not have to worry about her summer reading. She does it on her own. We always sign up for our public library's summer reading program as well as pick up the summer reading program sheet over at Barnes and Noble. She loves reading to get a free book there. So needless to say I will be sharing lots of book ideas for your kids to read this summer. Even if your child is not a superreader there is something out there and reading helps stop the summer slide! The first is a middle grades book (grades 3-7). It is Annie B., Made for TV by Amy Dixon.

This past year I have gotten to know some kids who unlike my daughter do not really like reading. I keep trying to tell them they need to find the right books for them. Many of them seem to enjoy graphic novels. And let's face it, graphic novels seem to be very popular with all sorts of readers. For awhile I saw graphic novels for middle school kids or young adult, but now they have ones for all sorts of different ages. The first book I am sharing with you today is recommended for grades 1-3. It is perfect for your beginning readers who may be a bit reluctant to read. It is Hammy and Gerbee: Mummies at the Museum by Wong Herbert Yee.
